This report follows the meeting in Brussels on 18 April 2018 between Plovdiv, one of the two European Capitals of Culture (ECOC) in 2019, and the monitoring and advisory panel (the "panel"). Plovdiv was designated as European Capital of Culture in May 2015 on the basis of the panel’s selection report; its bid-book is available on the Plovdiv Foundation 2019 website. There was an informal meeting between Plovdiv and the panel in September 2015, and a first formal monitoring meeting in October 2016. A panel's delegation also paid a visit to Plovdiv in May 2017.
The report is addressed to the Plovdiv 2019 Foundation (the "Foundation") and will be published on the European Commission's website.

This report follows the meeting in Rijeka on 28 June 2018 between the panel and Rijeka, one of the two European Capitals of Culture (ECOC) in 2020. Rijeka was designated as the European Capital of Culture 2020 in Croatia in July 2016 on the basis of the panel’s selection report. The Rijeka 2020 bid-book is available on the organisation’s website. The first monitoring meeting was held in Brussels on 8 March 2017.
This report is addressed to the Rijeka 2020 organisation (2020 LLC) and will be published on the European Commission’s website.

This report follows the meeting in Rijeka on 28th June 2018 between the panel and Galway, one of the two European Capitals of Culture (ECOC) in 2020. Galway was designated European Capital of Culture 2020 in Ireland in September 2016 on the basis of the panel’s selection report. Its bid-book is available on Galway 2020 website. There was previously a 1st monitoring meeting in March 2017 in Brussels: the 1st monitoring report by the panel can be accessed on the European Commission website.

This is the report of the selection panel (the “panel”) for the pre-selection phase for the competition of the European Capital of Culture in 2023 in Hungary.

The competition takes place in two phases: pre-selection (shortlisting) and selection. The ministry issued a call for applications on 29 November 2017. Three applications were submitted by the closing date of 1 October 2018 by:
Kuressaare, Narva, Tartu.

Tartu. Nice and quiet for many. Nice and dull for so many more. That’s not the way we want it – not the way we were. Tartu has been the place to figure out who you are and who you can be. The space to be different. To stand out and speak up. We can and must still deliver this space, all across Europe, now more than ever. But this needs to come from a major jolt out of the smug routine.
